CFG May Newsletter 01

Hello,

The year is certainly passing quickly and tourism is back in Edinburgh!

Music Sessions In Edinburgh

======================

I was out in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago, joining in a Celtic music session at Sandy Bell's, up near the University.

It was the first time I had joined in an in person music session for the first time in over two and a half years.

Needless to say, everyone was enjoying the spirit of the moment with the music, singing and people catching up!

It's great to see everyone out and about again. Businesses around Edinburgh University have really appreciated the students being around as it has helped to keep them in business whilst the tourists have been away. And the tourists are definitely coming back!

Having a look at a list of music sessions for a week-day evening, there were 4 locations to choose from, including Sandy Bells, The White Hart Inn (Grassmarket), The Hebrides Bar and the Antiquary(Stockbridge).

I've still to explore the venues and will provide updates over the next few weeks for the other places.

Mississippi Renaissance Festival: 14th - 16th October 2022, Gulf Coast, USA

===========================================================

Now, this is a very special event, being the first Renaissance Festival in the area for a number of years.

The Renaissance Festival focuses on a period in the early 1300s and Scotland, England, the Vikings and the Pirates will all be involved in the event!

Salado Highland Games: 11th - 13th November 2022, TX, USA

================================================

The Salado Highland Games in Texas have been going for a number of years and had their first Highland games last November after the coronavirus pandemic.

One of the events to celebrate the opening of the Highland Games is a torchlit procession on the Friday evening. I am looking forward to participating in this procession!
