The Bonawe Highlander Set is made up of a March/ Strathspey and Reel.

Three tunes make up this set.

These are Bonawe Highlanders, The Wife She Brewed It and The Left Handed Fiddler.

Bonawe is set on the edge of Loch Etive in Argyll, Scotland.

A furnace was in operation in the area from 1753 to 1876 reputedly making cannonballs which were used at the battle of Trafalgar.

The is also a quarry on the other side of the loch and the material has journeyed to many parts of the world including Newcastle, England as foundations for the Newcastle Tunnel.

For the second tune 'The Wife She Brewed It', the first time I heard this tune was at the actual recording by the Fife Strathspey and Reel Society on their 1980 album 'The Fiddle Sounds of Fife'.

The third tune, 'The Left Handed Fiddler' was written for George Taylor by the father of Scottish fiddling, Mr. Scott Skinner.
