And then we are doing a Pop Up Flash Mob along the San Antonio Riverwalk

About the Workshop
Join us for a lively, ear-based Scottish fiddle workshop at Texas Violin Shop in San Antonio. After our workshop, we'll be going to San Antonio's beautiful riverwalk for our pop up Flash Mob event.
At the workshop, with two tutors on hand, you'll get focused technical coaching and musical storytelling in a small-group, hands-on setting. We teach by ear- sheet music is optional - so everyone from absolute beginners to advanced players can take something away.
What you'll learn
- Bow strokes, pulse & rhythm (reels, jigs, marches)
- Two tunes taught by ear with suggested ornamentation
- Ensemble playing, call-and-response and jam etiquette
- A short performance set to close the session
Who this is for
All ages and levels welcome. We encourage families and younger players-youth tickets are discounted.

1. Welcome & Icebreaker - 10 min
2. Warm Up & Rhythm
3. Core Tune Learning (Tenpenny Bit) - 30 min
4. Break/ Informal Jam - 10 min
5. Second Tune (Atholl Highlanders) & Variations - 30 min
6. Community Jam & Closing - 15 min
Tutor 1- Technique & Decoration
Focuses on bow control, ornamentation and small group technical coaching.
Tutor 2- Tunes & Storytelling
Focuses on repertoire,
phrasing and the cultural stories behind each tune.
Practical Info
Registration opens at 9.30am at Texas Violin Shop for a 10am start.

Bring your fiddle and a soft cloth.
If you need an instrument, choose the 'Instrument Loan' add-on during booking.
We suggest wearing comfortable shows and bringing water - Riverwalk shade varies by location.
