See Sound Come to Life
Join Scottish fiddle player and educator Colin MacLeod for a fascinating one-hour Cymatics Experience exploring the connection between sound, science, and music.
Cymatics is the science of turning sound into visible patterns. In this interactive workshop, Colin will use simple demonstrations to show how sound vibrations can create shapes and movement — and how the violin can become a bridge between music, science, and creativity.
What You’ll Explore
In this workshop, participants will:
- Discover how sound can create visual patterns
- Explore how loud and soft playing affects vibration
- Learn how violin tone, rhythm, and energy shape sound
- Experience the connection between music, science, and joy
- See how group playing can create a shared musical impact
Who This Workshop Is For
This workshop is ideal for:
- Homeschooling families
- Curious young learners
- Violin and fiddle students
- Parents interested in music and science
- Musicians curious about vibration and sound
- Anyone who enjoys hands-on learning
No previous science background is needed — just curiosity.
Why Cymatics?
Sound is something we usually hear, but cymatics lets us see it.
Through simple demonstrations, participants will experience how music is more than notes on a page. It is vibration, movement, energy, and connection.
For young musicians, this can be a powerful way to understand how their playing affects the world around them.
