lochs, glens, mountains & coastal winds
Watch & Listen
A taste of the Celtic Sound Experience — live fiddle soundscapes at Soulshine Studios, Richmond, VA
The Experience
Step into an hour-long Celtic Sound Experience that blends meditation, imagination and live fiddle. Guided by Colin MacLeod — founder of the School of Celtic Fiddle Mastery — this session uses the expressive voice of the fiddle to evoke the lochs, glens, mountains, coastal winds, and the pulse of ancient rhythm.
The room is softly lit. You're invited to lie back, close your eyes, and let the soundscapes carry you. There is no agenda beyond stillness.
Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe, Argyll — the landscape that shapes the music
What to Expect
Celtic fiddle textures and subtle atmospheric tones — entirely live, never recorded. Colin shapes the journey in real time, responding to the energy of the room.
Lights low. Audience invited to lie or sit comfortably on mats. No applause during the experience — this is a space for genuine stillness and internal journey.
Loch and lochside mist. Mountain glens. Coastal Atlantic winds. Ancient rhythm that predates notation. Music that belongs to the land it came from.
A gentle arrival and settling-in, followed by the full sound journey, then a quiet close with time to land and reorient before you leave.
Deep relaxation, creative replenishment, and gentle emotional release. You may leave feeling calm, inspired, or simply deeply rested — often all three.
No musical experience needed. Soft breath sounds and gentle movement are completely normal. The space is non-judgmental and warmly inclusive of all.

Known as "The Celtic Fiddle Guru," Colin MacLeod is the founder of the School of Schlottish Fiddle Mastery — an online academy that blends Scottish fiddle and classical technique into an ear-led, heart-led approach. He grew up in Inveraray, Argyll, steeped in the oral tradition of ceilidhs and family music-making; his father speaks Gaelic, and the fiddle came first at age seven.
For the Celtic Sound Experience, Colin draws on that same root — not concert performance but communal presence, the fiddle as a vessel for landscape and memory rather than spectacle.
His teaching philosophy — "Slow Down to Speed Up" — underpins the Sound Experience too: deep listening before movement, stillness before response, ancient tunes as a doorway back to the essential.
