Celtic Fiddle Guru
Inveraray, Argyll, Scotland
Colin MacLeod grew up near Inveraray, Argyll, in the Scottish Highlands — steeped in the oral tradition of Celtic music from childhood. He has performed at Highland Games, wineries, cultural events and wellness venues across Virginia, North Carolina, and beyond, and has taught hundreds of students to play by ear through his School of Celtic Fiddle Mastery.
Colin's teaching philosophy is rooted in the ancient tradition of learning by listening — no sheet music, no formal theory, just the music passing naturally from one generation to the next. His workshops are known for being warm, unhurried, and transformative.
He is a familiar face in Richmond's Celtic music community — playing sessions at venues like Rosie Connelly's, performing at Thistlerock Mead Co, and co-hosting the Richmond Celtic Music and Culture Group.
